Our facility is conveniently located less than one mile from I-71 and Route 3 in Medina, Ohio. We are approximately 30 miles south of Cleveland (Cleveland-Hopkins Intl. Airport) and 115 miles north of Columbus. Our indoor arena measures 60’ x 160’ and we have a spacious, climate-controlled viewing room with bathroom and kitchenette.

Offering both Saddle Seat (an English style of riding, as are Dressage and Hunt Seat, but a style unique to America and ridden primarily on the American Saddlebred, Morgan and Arabian horse on the “flat,” meaning no jumping) and Western riding lessons, in addition to driving lessons, the Medina Riding & Driving Academy caters to the individual needs and goals of each of its students. Our students range in age from 3 years old to well into the “Senior Citizen category.” Students enjoy the flexibility of alternating between the two different riding disciplines if they desire, as well as driving.

Beginner students learn the basics of riding or driving in a private lesson setting and then, when ready, they may choose to advance to a small group lesson. Grooming and the care of the horse and its equipment are also taught. Driving students especially benefit from the instruction of properly harnessing and hooking the horse to the cart. Whether learning how to properly tack a horse or simply to groom one, students are taught safety for both horse and rider/driver. Young students appreciate the experience of caring for the horse which instills in them responsibility and compassion for another living being. It is well known that riding helps increase mental focus, flexibility and quick decision- making. Students who ride usually have higher than average grades in school as well.

Additionally, riding is a great and fun way to promote physical fitness of which our adult riders can happily attest! With Saddle Seat riding, the challenge of achieving proper form while posting (the up and down movement in and out of the saddle relative to the horse’s stride at the trot) can provide a thorough cardio work-out.

We strive to provide a safe, fun-filled and challenging equestrian experience that is suited to the student’s goals-whether they be purely for pleasure or to ensure success in the show ring. At the Medina Riding & Driving Academy, students and parents are never required to commit to a package of lessons nor are they pressured to progress to showing or purchasing a horse. We are thrilled to have you purely as a lesson student for as long as you desire. We stress pleasure, not pressure!
